UTK HIGH END SCHOLARSHIPS - Deadline is Nov 1 -Regular admission deadline Dec 1. 

UTK PLEDGE SCHOLARSHIP - if you and your parents' combined income is less than $40,000 AND you are accepted for admission to UTK, you WILL RECEIVE the pledge scholarship AUTOMATICALLY IF you-apply by Dec 1 and fill out FAFSA by Feb 15th.  - pays room and board, books, tuition - That means you go for FREE!!!

UTK has freshmen admit nursing program where you are admitted to your nursing major as a new, entering freshmen

Selective College Admissions Session - Please join admissions officers from Sewanee: The University of the South, Wake Forest University and Vanderbilt University when we are in your area.  
The event will be hosted at The Camp House, 149 E ML King Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37402 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm. Free parking is available behind The Camp House
 
This free event will provide you and your parents the opportunity to learn more about financial aid and the college admissions process through a case study program. We will consider several mock applications and explore some of the nuances that admissions committees often encounter. You will have the chance to learn about each of our institutions and to ask questions about the college admission process and about financial aid.

Scholarships

Scholarships Offered for Children of Breast Cancer Patients! -

The MaryEllen Locher Foundation is a college scholarship program for children who have either lost a parent to breast cancer or have a parent who is a breast cancer survivor. The organization was founded in 2002 by MaryEllen Locher, a well-known WTVC news anchor and health reporter. MaryEllen passed away from breast cancer in 2005.

We will begin accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year on Oct. 1. Applications and other information can be found at http://www.melfoundation.org/#/scholarships/scholarship-information

 

Coca-Cola Scholars - Based on GPA, test scores, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP - Scholarships range from $10,000 to $20,000 - You must apply ONLINE -  http://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org/applicants 

Deadline is OCTOBER 31 - Note, This is the preliminary round but the application is quite extensive! Start early. Extensive community service will be required if you are to be competitive. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Horatio Alger Scholarship -This is a chance to tell your story!  Must have financial need (parent's adjusted gross income less than $55,000) and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity, as well as a good academic record (2.0 GPA minimum).  Student must also be graduating in the spring/summer of 2016 and going on to pursue a bachelor's degree (you may start at a 2 year college).  Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. Scholarships range from $5000 to $20,000.  Applications deadline is October 25 at 5 pm.  Apply online: https://scholars.horatioalger.org/scholarships/   A letter of recommendation is required (must be filled out online) Certification sheet must also be uploaded or mailed with transcript. Each year the Horatio Alger Association awards millions of dollars worth of scholarships to students across the country.  This year Tennessee has been allotted at least 2 National Scholarships valued at $20,000 each.  In addition, the American Electric Power Foundation is funding 9 scholarships for Tennessee students; each of these scholarships has a value of $5,000.

AES Scholarship Deadline Is Approaching

  The deadline for the 11th annual AES Scholarship is October 6, 2016.

Wendy's Heismann Scholarship - Wendy's is looking for the next class of remarkable students who excel in academics, athletics, and community involvement.  The 2017  Wendy's High School Heisman award application process is underway.  Now through Oct 3, 2016 Class of 2017 graduating seniors can apply at www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com

To be eligible, a student must have maintained at least a 'B' grade point average, participated in one of the 27 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations, and demonstrated active involvement in his or her community.

National Winners receive:

  • Recognition during ESPN's national telecast of the college Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation in New York City
  • A Wendy's High School Heisman trophy and Heisman Patch
  • $10,000 for their high school
  • $500 Wendy's gift card

TSDAR Scholarship - $2500 for a senior attending a 4 year school - Essay is required. Please see Mrs. A. for application or check on Naviance under "document library"  Due to Mrs. Adamz by September 21st. Also check at www.dar.org for other scholarships.

Christopher Columbus Essay Contest - $1200 - "Essay: Technology's Impact on the Voyage of Christopher Columbus"  Open to grades 9-12. Word count from 800-1200 words. Check "document library" on Naviance for full details. Deadline is November 3rd  to Mrs. A.

***NOTRE DAME WILL BE HOSTING A COLLEGE FAIR*** ON Wednesday, September 14th from 6:30 to 8 pm at Notre Dame High School. Financial aid workshop will be at 7 pm.  Parents and students are welcome to attend.
